British fashion designer Alexander McQueen died yesterday.

This is worth noting for the human tragedy alone.

Also for the loss to the British fashion industry.

But on January  6 under the title  ‘A Mine of Inspiration’ we wrote about where inspiration for garden design comes from. Amongst many other things we noted fashion as  a possible source.

Since a sense of  line, volume, attitude, vision, ‘outside the box’ thinking and technical ability are essential elements common to all design disciplines of couse design ideas can and do cross fertilize. And so his passing is also a loss for creativity generally.

Thanks and RIP Alexander McQueen.
