Get in the mood for Chelsea 2010

With Malvern over, Chelsea Flower Show cannot be too far away.

Lots of the joy in life is anticipation.

And three of the magazines we take:

The English Garden

Garden Design Journal

Gardens Illustrated

give us tempting glimpses of what treats lie in store for us. As does:

RHS Chelsea Flower Show | RHS Gardening

OK so its glimpses, briefs and artwork and so on.

But what has caught our eye?

Its the show gardens always with us. We are looking for ideas and trends. We have noticed:

  • Tom Stuart Smith-Laurent Perrier  for the airy natural feel of it. A bit worried that he has to have a pavilion.
  • Paul Stone’s Eden Project. Dynamic, dramatic and huge!
  • Thomas Hoblyn’s Candide Garden for Foreign and colonial – elegant and understated.

With a mammoth like Chelsea, it’s a good idea to start working out your priorities.

A little research with the show handbook and a map makes you feel clued up with geography and ‘must sees’ so you can then relax on a simple, attainable itinary.

We always find that am beats pm which passes in a daze and a haze as the event and the Pimms take their toll.

Have fun and hopefully see you there!
