How much fun are these sexy little seed cases?

Its  legume family so it was bound to do something interesting in the pod department.

Lespedeza is your archetypal warm wall shrub.

Obviously the warm wall got a bit hot this summer because it did this:

 in June rather than September. And now we have:

Skeins of these cute seed pods.

Which are ever so slightly like something your great Aunt Maude might have crocheted, if she had hit the wacky baccy a bit hard:

Turning the corner today they were backlit to lime green luminescence by the late afternoon sun. I don’t see how anyone could fail to be amused and uplifted by them.

But they also put me in mind of a post by Jocelyn Chilvers, which was in part about observing detail:

Because it is precisely this sort of detail that can be missed by those who don’t look at plants for more than just flower or structure.
